Kalyana Sweet pachadi recipe | Mixed fruits pachadi| Pazha pachadi is generally served in Tamil Brahmin weddings. We also serve this during festivals at home. As today is Ugadi festival, I thought I would share this recipe in Jeyashri’s Kitchen. I learnt this from a cook mami, who came to our house for cooking, during the time of my son Varun’s upanayanam. She used only apple for this pachadi. I have already posted a tomato Sweet pachadi, which is my mom’s signature dish. Generally, at weddings, they add a pinch of food colour, but since I don’t want to add the food colour, I didn’t add it. Check out my other Wedding style recipes:
Kalyana Sweet pachadi
Kalyana Sweet Pachadi recipe, a traditional served at weddings, is made using mixed fruits
Servings 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups Mixed Fruits*
- 1/2 cup Sugar I used Raw sugar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 10 Cashew nuts
- Cardamom powder a pinch optional
- *I used Pineapple seedless grapes, apples and bananas. You can use mango, dates and raisins too.
Instructions
- Chop the fruits into small cubes. Slice the banana into roundels.
- In a pan add sugar and add 1/2 cup of water. I used brown sugar.
- Boil the sugar till it reaches a one-string consistency.
- Once the consistency reaches, switch off the flame.
- Add the cut fruits to this. Add cardamom powder to this(if adding)
- Add the cashew nuts to this need to roast the cashew nuts in ghee. Add it raw.
- If adding raisins and dates add now.
- Cover it and keep it aside for an hour or 2 hours.
- Serve it along with a traditional South Indian meal.
- You can have this as a dessert too.
