Appam is a sweet dish made with wheat flour. Normally this is made during Ganesh Chaturthi |Vinayagar Chaturthi., Janmashtami and Karthigai Deepam. Also, this can be made for Karthigai deepam too.

Wheat appam recipe
Easy and Instant wheat flour appam recipe
Servings 10 appams
Ingredients
- ½ cup Wheat flour
- 1 tbsp Rice flour
- 1 Banana
- ¼ tsp Cardamom powder
- ½ cup Jaggery
- 1 tbsp Coconut
- Water as needed
- 1 tsp Ghee +as needed to make appams
Instructions
- Take a broad vessel and combine the wheat flour, rice flour, and cardamom powder.
- Add this to the flour.
- In a pan, add the jaggery along with ¼ cup of water and boil till the jaggery melts.
- Filter the impurities.
- Take a broad vessel and combine the wheat flour, rice flour, coconut, and cardamom powder.
- Once it is warm, add this to the flour mixture.
- Mix it nicely.
- Peel the skin of the banana and puree this.
- Add this to the batter and mix well.
- Now add ½ cup of water or a little less to adjust the consistency.
- The consistency should be a slightly thick dosa batter consistency.
- If the batter is too thick, the paniyarams will come out hard.
- Add 1 tsp ghee and mix well. This gives softness to the paniyarams.
- Heat a paniyaram pan and add ghee in the holes.
- Pour the batter in all the holes.
- Cover and cook on medium flame.
- Once one side is cooked, flip on the other side.
- Drizzle a few drops of ghee.
- Cook for a few minutes.
- Take it out and repeat to finish the rest of the batter.
- Wheat appams are ready.
