Milkshake without ice cream . When I got married, my mother in law used to make Carrot juice for my husband and brother in law everyday. After few years, when we moved to Singapore, as we become more health conscious gave up drinking carrot milk as it has sugar in it. Those days we used drink coffee | tea with sugar and eat sweets also a lot. So want to cut down on something and gave up this carrot milk.
As summer is in peak now, and kids at home need something chilled to drink. Though they drink store-bought juices and ice creams, in between I try to include some homemade healthy juice | milkshake. I replaced dates instead of sugar and the kids loved it a lot. I have given variations for this recipe in the ‘Notes’ section.
This carrot milkshake with 3 main ingredients, carrot, chilled milk and dates is a very healthy and filling one for breakfast or for evening snack. Do try this at home and let me know how it turned out.

Carrot Milkshake recipe
Ingredients
- 1 carrot
- 5 dates
- 3 tbsp hot water
- 1 cup Chilled Milk
- Few pistachios to garnish
Instructions
- Peel the skin of carrots and grate the carrot.
- Alternatively you can roughly chop them too.
- Soak the dates in ¼ cup of hot water for 10 minutes.
- Drain the water and blend the dates, grated carrot, and 1/4 cup of milk into a smooth paste.
- Add the remaining milk and mix well.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios.
- Serve immediately.

Notes
- You can add 1-2 tsp of cocoa powder or drinking chocolate to this while blending.
- Few almonds can be soaked in hot water and added to the carrot milkshake.
- A scoop of Vanilla ice cream can be added while grinding, to get a creamier Carrot Milkshake.
