Drumstick kootu recipe | Murungakkai kootu recipe, a simple no onion no garlic poricha kootu recipe with drumstick. Murungakkai kootu recipe with step-by-step pictures.
We make kootu with different types of veggies. This one is a very simple and special one at our home. This carries a lot of memories of my childhood too. Back home we have a murungai maram | drumstick tree which produces drumsticks in bulk. Amma used to distribute to our neighbours and we have an abundant supply of drumsticks for our usage too.
This kootu recipe I learnt from my mom, I was in 10th standard. Right from my childhood I am fond of cooking and helping my mom with cooking. This drumstick is one of my favorite recipe and one day I assisted my mom in making this drumstick kootu. My father appreciated me so much as the kootu tasted the same as the one my grandmom (father’s dad) makes. He always says the touch of my hands in cooking reminds him of his mother.
He always tells my mom to make rice in Vengala panai | brass pot whenever she makes this kootu. As that’s how my grandmother makes it during his childhood days. We love this kootu as a combo with hot rice, appalam, and thengai thogayal.
