Gajar ka halwa, carrot halwa recipe a popular Indian dessert made with carrots, milk and, sugar. Usually, they add khoa or milk powder to gajar ka halwa, carrot halwa recipe, but i used instant gulab jamun mix. I have made this combo last year for a live cookery demo in Singapore. It was a super hit among the audience. I was thinking to post this recipe from then.
The addition of instant gulab jamun mix to this recipe makes it so rich and also very tasty. Many people make gajar ka halwa with milk powder. The instant gulab jamun mix gives that exact taste. Also, check out my other recipes using instant gulab jamun mix.

Gajar ka halwa, carrot halwa recipe
Learn how to make Gajar ka halwa with Instant gulab jamun mix
Ingredients
- 1 cup Carrot grated
- 1 tblsp + 2 tsp ghee
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup instant gulab jamun mix
- Pistachios to garnish
- Cardamom powder a pinch
Instructions
- Grate the carrots. You can use the Delhi carrots available in this winter season.
- In a pan add 2 tsp of ghee.
- Add 1 cup of grated carrot and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add ¾ cup of milk. For nice rich taste use full cream milk.
- Let this carrot get cooked in the milk.
- Keep the flame medium-low and stir it nicely.
- Ensure it should not stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Once the milk is almost evaporated add in ½ cup of sugar.
- Mix well. After adding sugar the mixture loosens up.
- Let the sugar gets dissolved completely.
- Add in the instant gulab jamun mix to this.
- Keep the flame low and stir it without any lumps.
- The mixture will be thickened immediately.
- Switch off the flame in a minute.
- Add 1 tbsp of ghee to this.
- Finally, add chopped pistachios.
- Mix well and serve warm.
- You can add thinly sliced almonds or ghee roasted cashew nuts also.

Which brand of gulab jamun mix did you use?
I used Gits brand, tried with few other popular brands as well.
I tried this out today, but after I added the gulag jamun mix it got all lumpy. Although I finished it after it left the corners of the vessel it was still sticky after it was done. What could I have done wrong?
