Karupatti coffee recipe | Palm jaggery coffee, a popular vegan coffee made with karupatti | panai vellam | palm jaggery and decoction or Instant coffee powder. Karupatti coffee in Tamil with full video.
This Karupatti kaapi is very popular in Tamilnadu, nowadays there are exclusive cafes in Tamilnadu, selling Karupatti coffee. I have tasted Karupatti coffee during my childhood days. Our neighbour aunty used to make this and share it with us. She is the one who taught me Sukku malli kaapi too.
Some people add milk to karupatti coffee but since I have tasted the vegan version during my childhood days, I wanted to post the same. If you want to add milk, you can do so, but never add hot milk as we do for our regular coffee. The milk may get curdled. Keep the karupatti coffee mixture hot and let the milk be in room temperature. Also, the milk version of karupatti coffee will be slightly watery and not thick like our regular Filter coffee.
Karupatti coffee can be served after a heavy meal. Since we are not adding milk, this will be light after a heavy breakfast. We can also enjoy this during winter or on a rainy day.
