Kerala style sweet aval | Aval Varratiyathu – Traditional sweet aval recipe for Janmashtami | Krishna jayanthi, recipe with full video and step-by-step pictures.
In Tamilnadu, we make no-cook Vella aval for Krishnajayanth neivedyam. This is similar to that but we cook this for a few minutes and add other ingredients to this. A few months back a friend shared this recipe with me. I decided to make this and share the recipe before Janmashtami 2022. I tweaked the recipe a little bit and it turned out very well.
Traditionally they add roasted sesame seeds and also red poha is used. Since I didn’t get red aval, I used white one. Apart from making this for Krishna jayanthi, we can make this for kid’s snacks too. This is a very healthy kid’s friendly snack.
