Sathu maavu | Health mix, we make usually at home. I have posted the recipe of my Mom’s Sathu maavu kanji podi recipe in Jeyashris kitchen. Though we get the health mix powder in stores, homemade ones are always the best.
Sathu maavu ladoo with jaggery is one of the healthy protein-rich sweet. We can make this for festivals, also prepare this for kid’s snack box too. Usually, we make rava ladoo, besan ladoo with sugar. This Sathu maavu ladoo recipe is with jaggery and you can use Karupatti | Palm jaggery as well.

Sathu maavu ladoo
Sathu maavu ladoo recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup Sathu maavu | health mix
- 1/3 cup Jaggery
- 2 tbsp ghee
- A pinch of cardamom powder
- 5 cashew nuts
Instructions
- In a pan add 1 tsp ghee and add cashew bits.
- Roast till golden brown and keep aside.
- Add 1 cup sathu maavu flour. I used homemade sathu maavu powder.
- You can use store-bought powder as well.
- Roast for 3-4 mins, do it in a low flame.
- Keep stirring and ensure not to get it burnt.
- In a pan add 1/3 cup jaggery. You can add ½ cup of jaggery to if you want a little more sweetness.
- Add little water and allow the jaggery to melt completely.
- No need to get any string consistency.
- Switch off once the jaggery is fully melted.
- Filter and add to the roasted flour. Mix well.
- Add roasted cashew bits and mix evenly.
- Add ghee little by little and mix. Quantity of ghee depends on the texture of the flour.
- Ensure the ghee is hot.
- Mix well and make small lemon sized ladoos.
- Sathu maavu ladoos are ready.

- You can add 1 -2 tsp of cocoa powder to the roasted sathu maavu to get a nice chocolate flavour
- You can add roasted almond bits to the Sathu maavu ladoo.
- The Jaggery quantity was perfect, if you want sweeter, add ½ cup of jaggery.
- Sathu maavu ladoo stays good at room temperature for 4-5 days.

Does this recipe works with sugar?Can we replace jaggery with sugar?
Yes you can use powdered sugar. Do not make any syrup. May be little extra ghee will be needed.
