Whenever i run out of idli dosa batter, i make upma or parathas or sandwiches for breakfast. Recently one of my friend was telling that her mom makes a pancake using green moong flour. It sounded same like the besan cheela but using moong flour. I saw a pack of roasted moong flour in Sri Murugan stores and picked that to try the savory pancake. It turned out so well and kids too enjoyed the pancakes.

Roasted moong flour 1/2 cup
Green chili 1
Capsicum 2 tblsp
Carrot 2 tbslp
Onion 2
Salt as needed
Water as needed (to make the batter)
Oil to make pancakes
Method :
- Finely chopped the green chili, onions, capsicum and grate the carrots.
- In a wide bowl add the moong flour.
- Add the green chilis, capsicum, carrot and onions.
- Mix well.
- Add salt.
- Add water as needed to make a batter.
- Do not make the batter too thick.
- Else the pancakes will be too hard.
- Let this be in a dosa batter consistency.
- Heat a tawa and pour a small portion of batter to this.
- Smear little oil on this.
- Once cooked on one side, flip on the other side.
- Once done, take out from the pan.
- Repeat the same for the rest of the batter.
- Serve the pancakes immediately.
- The pancakes tasted so yum without any accompaniments.
- But you can serve with some kara chutney if you want.
Notes:
- Frozen corn kernels can be added to the batter to make it more colorful.
- Colored capsicum can be added to savory pancake.
