Broken wheat Pongal

Ingredients

Broken wheat | Samba wheat | dalia

Yellow moong dal

Mixed veggies

Ginger grated
Cashew nuts few

Curry leaves few
Asafoetida 2 pinches

Ghee
Salt as needed
Instructions
In a pressure cooker add ½ tblsp of oil and 1 tblsp ghee.
Add 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 2 tsp grated ginger, asafoetida and curry leaves.
If you want to add some cashew nuts (optional).
Cook till the nuts turn golden brown.
Now add in ¾ cup mixed veggies.
I took carrot, beans and green peas. Mix well
Add in ¼ cup yellow moong dal. You can add ½ cup also.
We can add the broken wheat now and mix well.
Add 5-6 cups of water and add salt.
Cover the pressure cooker
Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
Switch off and wait for the pressure to release completely.
Once pressure releases, open the cooker.
Mix well.
Drizzle ghee if needed
Broken wheat pongal ready.
Serve hot with onion gotsu or capsicum sambar or coconut chutney.

Notes
You can coarsely grind the pepper, cumin, ginger and curry leaves and add in oil.
